Wild Pansy Press Project Space Residency
February – March 2013

In February 2013, Joanna Loveday and Charlotte Morgan took up residency at the Wild Pansy Press Project Space, Old Mining Building, University of Leeds. As part of an ongoing line of research, they spent time reflecting upon models of retreat and ways in which spaces and environments influence the writing and publishing produced within them. Read the residency blog here.

Soiree | 6 March 2013

As part of their residency, COPY invited artist Barry Sykes to present his performance Hermit Movie Rethink in the Old Mining Building entrance hall, adjacent to Wild Pansy Press Project Space. An adaptation of a lecture written for The Immersive Vision Theatre, a small planetarium set in the middle of Plymouth University, the work draws references to the site into a short multimedia lecture involving astronomy, astrology, cinema, animation, home movies, a tree, one joke and karaoke. Sykes’ performance utilised the specific dimensions and details of the entrance hall, with it’s columns and elaborate coving, through vocal and audio/visual projection. Developed with support from i-DAT.

The performance accompanied the launch of Paradiso.

Wild Pansy Press Project Space is located in the School of Fine Art, History of Art and Cultural Studies, University of Leeds, Old Mining Building, Leeds LS2 9JT.

Event and residency supported by Arts Council England, Dust, Wild Pansy Press and PAGES: Leeds International Artist Book Fair.
